Dr. Carole Mayer is the Director of Research and Regional Psychosocial Oncology Lead and Symptom Management Lead for the Supportive Care Program at the Northeast Cancer Centre. She is also an Affiliate Scientist with the Health Sciences North Research Institute. She is a social worker by discipline having completed her Honours Bachelor Degree and Master’s Degree at Laurentian University. She pursued her PhD in Social Work at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a Fellow of the Executive Training for Research Program through the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation. She represents the Northeast Cancer Centre on the Person-Centred Care Committee through the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. She is also the Vice-President of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology. Dr. Mayer has been working with the Aboriginal Cancer Care Unit- Cancer Care Ontario, with the implementation and evaluation of mobile ISAAC, engaging four First Nations Health Centres in Northeastern Ontario; she has also developed and oversees the Aboriginal Navigator programming at Health Sciences North.
