Joanna Vautour is Anishnawbe from Serpent River First Nation and French Canadian heritage. In November 2014 she was hired as the Aboriginal Patient Navigator for the Toronto Regional Cancer Program with her office located at St. Michael's Hospital. Joanna has over 15 years of Social Work experience working in the Toronto Aboriginal Community. Most recently Joanna has been working at Anishnawbe Health Toronto as a Traditional Counsellor. She previously held several positions at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto in the areas of Child Welfare, Early Childhood Education and Youth Recreation.
She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University and Social Service Worker diploma from Loyalist College. Additionally, Joanna brings the Anishnawbe Teachings taught to her by her mother into her work as a Helper in the Indigenous Community.
