Dr. Amit Arya joined the Division of Supportive & Palliative Care at Brampton Civic Hospital in October of 2015. Passionate about medical research, he holds a joint faculty appointment in the Division of Palliative Care at McMaster University & the University of Toronto. His diverse research interests include point-of-care ultrasound in palliative care, tertiary palliative care in long-term care, and palliative care for racialized communities. He is also the project lead at William Osler Health System for point-of-care ultrasound in palliative care and is developing a “generalist-plus-specialist” palliative care model in long-term care. Dr. Arya has presented accredited workshops at various venues including Grand Rounds at William Osler Health System, Hospice and Palliative Care Ontario and Ontario Long-Term Care Clinicians Conference. He is the chair of the "Compassionate Communities Brampton" committee and plays an active role on the Diversity Advisory Council. Furthermore, he is a LEAP facilitator and a member of the scientific planning committee for the annual point-of-care ultrasound workshop at McMaster University. For his efforts, Dr. Arya has received the Community Preceptor Teaching Award from McMaster University and was recently recognized as one of the “Heroes in the Home” by the Central West LHIN.
