Nazira Jaffer BSC, MHA, MBA, CHE is an innovative health care executive with a proven track record of outstanding results in planning health care, social services and programs, strategy and change management, project management and performance through engaging service providers, consumer groups and stakeholders across jurisdictions. Nazira has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in Canadian and international healthcare environments. She speaks 6 languages, with a great understanding of diversity. She is also a CARF Accreditation Surveyor for Governance, Leadership and Aging Services and supported several organizations in North America and Europe through their accreditation process.

Nazira has worked internationally in East Africa, South Africa, India, Pakistan, China and Japan, not to mention Canada. She has worked in senior leadership roles for over 20 years with the Aga Khan Health Services in East Africa in various roles including CEO of Aga Khan Hospitals in Kenya and National Director of Planning and Development for Aga Khan Health Services. In Canada, she has worked in various sectors including Local Health Integration Network, acute care, long term care and hospice care.

Over the years Nazira has developed excellent relationships with clinical and community peers in Canada and internationally. She continues to build partnerships for the highest quality, compassionate care. As an International Health Care Consultant and the Executive Director at Yee Hong Peter K Kwok Hospice these elements continue to come together to ensure optimum living for the dying.

Nazira has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi, Master’s Degree in Health and Hospital Administration from the University of Ottawa and a Masters in Business Administration from Schulich School of Business at York University and the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. She also carries the CHE designation with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.

Recipient of the Canadian Liquid Air Award and the President’s Award from the Ontario Hospital Association, Nazira is a strong advocate for knowledge exchange and knowledge transformation through education and research. She has served on several Boards and is an active volunteer in her community in various roles and continues with her passion for improving the quality of life of people along the aging continuum from cradle to grave.
